AI Developer at Region Västmanland
Do you want to help build Region Västmanland's work with artificial intelligence – and at the same time have the opportunity to influence direction and working methods? We are now looking for an AI Developer for the Decision Support and Integration unit, where you will have the chance to work in a free and exploratory role with great personal responsibility and the ability to influence direction, working methods, and solutions.
Job Responsibilities
As an AI Developer, you will hold a central position in the region's ongoing work with artificial intelligence. The role involves establishing, developing, and evaluating AI solutions in close collaboration with operations, IT, and other functions. The work is characterized by great freedom under responsibility, where you are expected to contribute with structure, direction, and technical expertise in an environment that is still under development.
You will work on developing and evaluating machine learning models and help translate operational needs into technical solutions. You will also work with language models, administrative tools for AI, and provide advice on technical prerequisites such as platforms and hardware. The work also includes requirements management, testing and validation of AI solutions, as well as participation in development assignments and projects.
The role requires close collaboration with various parts of the organization and demands the ability to work both strategically and operationally, in an environment where working methods, processes, and solutions are partially shaped along the way.
About the Workplace
The Digitalization Support Administration is Region Västmanland's digitalization organization tasked with delivering digital services and managing healthcare and operational systems. We work in a complex technical environment with high demands for quality, security, and sustainability, with a clear focus on development, improvement, and innovation. The administration consists of seven units and about 150 employees who together work to support the region's operations.

The Decision Support and Integration unit consists of about 15 employees and is responsible for the region's data warehouse and integration platform. The region is in a development phase where the ambition is to become more information-driven in its decisions while utilizing new technology to streamline work, where the unit plays a central role. The need to adopt new technology and new ways to solve both new and existing challenges is significant in healthcare, and we see AI as an important enabler for maintaining and developing both quality and capacity in care in the long run. Qualifications
We are looking for someone with an academic background in computer science or equivalent documented knowledge. You have experience in developing and evaluating machine learning models and also have experience in programming with Python. You should have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. You also have experience in change and development work related to AI.
It is advantageous if you have experience working with language models and administrative tools for AI. Experience in requirements management, testing and validation, project work, and working according to ITIL and/or system management models, such as PM3, is also considered advantageous. Knowledge of machine learning for estimation or prediction, as well as technical prerequisites such as hardware for language models, is also advantageous.

Employment Conditions
Permanent employment. Full-time, start date according to agreement. Västerås. There is some opportunity for remote work in accordance with Region Västmanland's guidelines and when the business allows.
